From Fire Protection Publications

Since its inception in 1934, Fire Protection Publications (FPP), in conjunction with its partner the International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA), has been the world’s leading provider of fire service training materials. To meet the growing demands of fire departments and maximize the effectiveness of training budgets, FPP has introduced a blended e-Learning system. Blended e-learning is the most efficient and cost effective way to deliver cognitive fire fighting skills because it greatly reduces the time spent in the classroom.

ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) play a key role in the development and revision of IFSTA manuals. SMEs come from all walks of the fire service, and they possess a broad range of expertise in emergency training. SMEs provide the information on the content that needs to be included. In addition, they thoroughly review and validate the prepared material before it is commercially released.

FPP’s current e-learning courses are based on IFSTA training materials. The courses are developed through a cooperative research and development agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense using a rigorous review process. FPP employees, along with IFSTA SMEs, DoD firefighters and instructors, and a professional instructional development team, work together to ensure that each course addresses NFPA standards and meets the needs of students and trainers.
